Come and give dracut a try. Dracut will become the replacement of initramfsptools in the future. But it needs more people that give it a try. If you are a maintainer of a package that includes a hook for initramfs-tools, I may also help you to convert the hook for dracut. Thomas is the package maintainer of dracut.
