This talk provides an update on the srsLTE project. We'll look at the two past releases in 2020 and, more importantly, provide an outlook on the two upcoming releases for 2021 which will include 5G NSA support.

The talk will provide an update about past, ongoing and future features of srsLTE. We'll give an overview about the features that have been added last year. We talk about our testing infrastructure and also discuss upcoming new features like 5G-NR, NB-IoT, C-V2X, Carrier Aggregation, etc.

After three years without active participation, this talk is going to look back at what happened to srsLTE since then, how it evolved from a flexible PHY library to 4G UE implementation, to a full eNB and finally to a complete open-source, end-to-end 4G testbed. We'll also discuss some of the currently ongoing activities and the exciting new features that are ahead of us.

The goal of this talk is to present a framework for building software-defined radios that are able to self-optimize their parameters using evolutionary algorithms.

The goal of this talk is to present a framework for building software-defined radios that are able to self-optimize their parameters using evolutionary algorithms. As part of a student research project, such a system has been implemented on the basis of the DEAP library for Python. The talk will discuss the goal of this framework, describe the overall system architecture, and present a system prototype that has been employed to optimize radio transmission parameters in an unknown radio environment in order to maximize the achievable throughput. The current prototype targets Iris-based SDRs. However, as the entire software is Python-based and employs standard components for interfacing the SDR, it can easily be ported to GNU Radio or other SDR frameworks. We will also present some preliminary results that have been obtained through over-the-air experiments in which we optimized different power parameters (HW and SW gain stages) and modulation and coding scheme in an unknown radio environment.

Most of the flexibility that has been brought to the development of software defined radios resides in components that can be associated with the physical layer of the radio. This talk tries to shed some light on how SDRs can also benefit from flexibility in higher protocol layers such as link-layer protocols.

Specifically, the talk introduces a component-based link-layer protocol architecture that allows to build self-contained protocol components that can be combined to complete link-layer protocol solutions in a Lego-like manner. The talk will cover some architectural aspects as well as some implementation-specific problems that we came across during the development of a prototype using Iris.
