Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons are a treasure trove of free information about a lot of topics! Wikipedia alone contains over 50 million articles in almost 300 languages. We're building a new, fun way to explore this content: "The Everything Exhibition" is an open-source generator that creates interactive, virtual 3D exhibitions on arbitrary topics, which you can explore in the browser! It has a multiplayer mode, so you can visit the exhibitions in groups. And, other than in a real museum, you can scribble on everything!

In this talk, we want to introduce you to how the generator works, and show you our current progress. We're using the 3D rendering engine three.js, and defined a simple datastructure for describing the exhibition content, to make the generator arbitrarily extendable. We'll go into which algorithms we tried for creating the room layouts, share what we learned in our playtest sessions, and talk about what's next.

With this project, we especially have young people in mind, who are often already used to 3D games and environments. But the Everything Exhibition allows everyone to really get lost in these delicious rabbit holes! :D

It has a relatively new multiplayer mode, so let's meet up, split into a few small groups, and dive into some topics we're curious about! At the time of writing, the multiplayer part works best in the Chrome (or Chromium) web browser, so please install that beforehand. And to look around in the 3D space, the most convenient way is using a physical computer mouse!

For the fifth time, we'll present a colorful potpourri of nerdsniping topics: some of our favorite facts about computers, art, and the world! We draw a lot of inspiration from new and absurd ideas, and we'd like to share that enthusiasm with you!

Git is ubiquitous these days - but it has a pretty steep learning curve! To help people learn how to use it efficiently and intuitively, we're developing an interactive, open-source learning game!

It makes heavy use of visualizations, features an (optional) graphical "playing card" interface, and uses real Git repositories under the hood! Storywise, you're a time agent in training, and learn all about how to use your time machine to help people solve their problems.

In this talk, we want to introduce you to how the game works, and show you our current progress. We're using the Godot engine, and have a simple, extensible level format based on Bash scripts, which you can use to build your own levels!

We want to accomodate both people who are new to Git and the command line, as well as advanced users who are interested in learning more about what's going on under the hood. We'll share what we learned in our playtest sessions, and what's next.

Are you curious about making your own video game? Game jams are a brilliant opportunity to try that, and a fun challenge for interdisciplinary teams of all skill levels! They're basically hackathons, but for video games - you're given a certain theme, and are encouraged to make a game around that in two or three days. In this talk, I want to empower and inspire you to try that yourself! When I first joined in the large, international game jam "Ludum Dare" in 2016, I found it a very rewarding experience, that got me in a flow-like state of mind. I liked it so much that I've since participated 10 times in a row - at this point, I have tons of experience, which I want to share with you!

This talk is split into three parts: First, I'll quickly go over the history of game jams, and introduce you to some of the largest ones, like Ludum Dare and the Global Game Jam. Second, I'll talk about my personal experience with game jams: I'll explain how I got into it, and showcase some games I worked on! I'll also share the development process behind them, and reflect on what went well and what didn't. And finally, I want to empower you to try this for yourself. Specifically, I'll explain how the "Ludum Dare" game jam works, and share some tips, tricks, and resources I have assembled over the years, that would have been useful for myself as I just was starting out.
