[OL-Cesium](https://github.com/openlayers/ol-cesium/) is a popular Open source Javascript library that you can leverage to add 3D to a new or existing OpenLayers application. You code the logics in a single place and it gets applied to both OpenLayers 2D map and Cesium 3D globe. The library handles the synchronization of the view, layers, styling, for you. This behaviour is customizable. Since its creation, 9 years ago, the library has attracted a large community of users. It has evolved to follow OpenLayers, Cesium and the global javascript ecosystem. This talk is about the strengths of the library, its state and the plans for the future.

Ol3-Cesium is a javascript library for adding a 3D globe to OpenLayers3 applications. No need for plugins, it runs natively with WEBGL.

Getting started is very simple and you can see your data (raster, vectors) on the Cesium globe and navigate in 3D. Synchronization is automatic.

We will show how easy it is to get started and what happens under the hood in the library. The talk will be illustrated with demos and ideas for the future.

Ol3-Cesium is an exciting web library bringing 3D to an OpenLayers3 map. A Cesium virtual globe is automatically created from the map and displayed side-by-side for collaborative interaction or stacked for exclusive tasks. The globe camera and the map view (centre, resolution, rotation) are bidirectionally synchronized: interacting on one updating the other.

Layers are synchronized from the map: - ol3 raster layers show up on the globe and reuse cache when possible; - ol3 vector layers render using the same style and may be positioned freely in 3D. Additionally, specific data may be displayed on the globe, like terrain or vectors.

Vectors are re-projected on-the-fly during synchronisation. Since one synchronizer may not fit all needs, the library exports core functions to allow advanced or custom use.
