In this talk, I would like to present the importance of the core Collaborative Softwares using by individuals and companies in this stack and the progress and challenges of the Open Source communities providing alternative solutions and the importance of all European countries to collectively support the actors in the Open Source communities providing solution in this area.

In the latest years, the subject of European Digital Sovereignty is gaining ground. Clearly the dominant position of the BigTechs is making both European companies, Countries but also individual increasingly dependent on the product and services of the BigTechs. In order to regain our sovereignty we need to look at the full stack, from hardware, to cloud and to the software running on those hardware and clouds.

In this talk, I would like to present the importance of the core Collaborative Softwares using by individuals and companies in this stack and the progress and challenges of the Open Source communities providing alternative solutions and the importance of all European countries to collectively support the actors in the Open Source communities providing solution in this area.

I will show the progress made in the last years by different providers of Open Source solutions (NextCloud, Matrix, BigBlueButton, Jitsi, XWiki, CryptPad and many others), describe the challenges and difficulties when building Open Source products and competing with the extremely powerful actors that we are facing (including monopoly abuses), but also make proposals on how we could make them work better together.

Développer ou participer à un logiciel dans son temps libre ou dans une grande entreprise est une chose, mais est-il possible de devenir un développeur de logiciel libre indépendant à plein temps, de trouver les moyens de le financer tout en respectant sa communauté et ses utilisateurs ? L'objectif de cette conférence est de partager les méthodes qui ont permis de financer les logiciels libres XWiki et CryptPad dans le cadre d'une petite PME (XWiki SAS), qui se développe progressivement et éthiquement depuis plus de 17 ans, avec des approches diverses allant du financement par les services aux entreprises, mais aussi au cloud et aux donations.

Les services Cloud sont de plus en plus utilisés et vos données sont de plus en plus exposées. Même si les services Clouds "promettent" d'assurer la sécurité de vos données, nous ne contrôlons pas effectivement ce qui est mis en place pour assurer la sécurité de nos données et notre vie privée. De nombreux services cloud utilisent nos données pour mettre en place des business models basés sur la publicité qui lisent nos données et les transfèrent à des services publicitaires. D'autres sont plus transparents, mais peinent à sécuriser effectivement nos données. Pourtant une autre approche est possible ! Dans cette présentation, nous présenterons le projet CryptPad (https://cryptpad.fr) qui offre une solution de collaboration chiffrée de bout en bout. CryptPad, développé depuis maintenant plus de 5 ans est une suite collaborative chiffrée de bout en bout permettant l'édition de documents de multiple format en temps réel. Celle plateforme intègre plus de 8 types de documents dont les format Office avec import et export, un kanban, un éditeur HTML, un éditeur Markdown, un outil de Dessin et un outil de création de sondage, ainsi qu'un Drive avec des dossiers partagés. L'outil dispose aussi d'une infrastructure de gestion et des partages de clés entre utilisateur, le tout chiffré de bout en bout afin de garantir la plus stricte confidentialité des données possibles.

XWiki is a structured wiki engine developed as Open Source since 2004, providing wiki-style collaboration for organizations, with many built-in features and countless extensions. XWiki has pioneered wikis by including structured data on the same level as free text content, thus enhancing significantly the expressiveness of the built knowledge bases; this same usage is also popularized by Confluence and Notion, with different user experience choices and more importantly with business models that are keeping user's data locked-in on the Cloud or in proprietary software.

In this talk we will present XWiki's journey to provide the best FOSS alternative to proprietary knowledge management tools, based on both current features and future roadmap.

We will showcase XWiki's approach for collaboration on text & structured data, including the newly conceived "livedata" component for inline editing of structured tabular data as well as the new realtime editor based on the realtime editing technology from CryptPad.

Using a new collaboration tools can be a challenge when it comes to pre-existing information. In this talk, we will look at available solutions when migrating data to the XWiki Open Source software.

We will first review the differences between XWiki and alternate systems, namely Atlassian Confluence, Microsoft Sharepoint and document management systems. Secondly we will show multiple approaches to migrating data into XWiki and improving the quality of the information available. Finally we will demonstrate existing importing tools available in XWiki: Confluence Import & XWiki Batch Import.

A Wiki is a powerful tool to store and display information provided by users. In this presentation we will show how it can also show information from external applications and connect to external applications. Using macros and internal scripting language on top of the XWiki Open Source Wiki platform, we will show examples of data being displayed from external applications. Examples will include: Elastic Search, Matrix/RIOT, Nagios, Cacti, JIRA, Databases.

It is often difficult to untangle technical choices made when designing systems from the values and implicit assumptions of its those systems' designers.

For many developers of open-source software, radical openness and permissionless participation have become the de facto methodology to follow when designing collaboration systems. This ideology has driven the creation of a wealth of information systems and collaboratively curated data sets which could not have been created in a top-down fashion. Consequently, different values, and thus different architectures have remained largely unexplored.

This lecture will present CryptPad, a web-based suite of collaborative tools which employs client-side encryption to restrict access to those who possess the cryptographic keys which are unique to each document. I will include an overview of the underlying architecture, and provide insight into its design process and the values that it encodes.

XWiki is an Open Source Second Generation Wiki being developed for more than 12 years, fully with an Open Source model.

In this Lightning talk we will show in 15 minutes how it can benefit the community thanks to it's flexibility and openness and now competes with very well known proprietary softwares. Powerful advanced features like Nested Spaces, Collaborative applications and it's scripting language to integrate external data, allows to reach new heights. Open source software can compete with solutions like Confluence or Microsoft Sharepoint.

This talk aims to share the benefits and challenges of running an Open Source Community and at the same time having companies selling services around the software. It will cover how the XWiki Open Source Community is managed in a full Open Source way, open to any participants regardless of their interests, and how the employees of private companies including XWiki SAS manage their roles as members of the community. We will also touch on XWiki SAS' approach to support the Open Source project. Finally, we will discuss how the company, as well as developers and users, benefit from a fully Open Source approach.
