I was born, in a CS sense, in the '80s with a Spectrum that initiated me to BASIC and Assembler, while, at the same time, I was learning FORTRAN at school. Now (40 years later) I do research in signal processing, and code in Matlab (octave, actually) and Ada and I have a sensitive tooth for buggy software (that is a side effect of coding in Ada).
I am an Aggr. Prof. in digital signal processing (DSP) at the University of Udine. My research experience is centered mainly around DSP, especially image and video processing, multimedia coding (including exotic stuff like redundancy coding, compressed sensing, distributed coding), wavelets and filter banks. I also worked in non-strictly DSP-related fields like chaotic systems and P2P video streaming. Recently I went "down to silicon" working on Physically Unclonable Functions (PUF). Open source user since the beginning, I have few projects of my own and every now and then I contributed to few open source projects.
