Biography

Being employed by the Technical University of Munich to work on free/open-source scientific software, with the task to not only develop new features, but also to increase its useability and sustainability, sounds like a dream job. Add to it the direct communication with users and the freedom to improve a C++ programming university course and you get something that is definitely worth spending a large portion of every week on.

Gerasimos holds a Diploma in Chemical Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens and a M.Sc. in Computational Science & Engineering from the Technical University of Munich. He is currently doing his PhD in the Chair of Scientific Computing of TUM with the preliminary title “Flexible algorithms and software for complex geometric multi-scale coupling”.

He likes sharing and helping and is always in seek of new tools, best practices, and feedback. Oh, by the way, he usually answers to the name “Makis”, but how this is related to his real name is a nice conversation starter.
