A quick review of new features of CSS that came widely available in 2018 or are about to come in 2019. Some of these features were already present but have matured enough to e used by Web Developer

Making a browser fast will speak about the numerous changes that happens under the hood of Firefox during 2017 and how Mozilla made his browser much more reactive to the user.

This presentation will explain how a browser works, then go into more details about: - Quantum Compositor - Quantum Style (Stylo) - Quantum Flow

and will explain in details some of the major changes that happens under the hood of Firefox during 2017.

WebIDL is the language used in specification to describe the syntax of an API. Major browsers are not only using it, but are also publishing the WebIDL of what they really implement. This talk will explain the standard language, as well as some Gecko-extensions, in simple terms.

The talk will: - present the syntax of the standard language and how it maps to actual properties and methods in JavaScript. - explain some of the current standard annotations like [SameObject] and [NewObject] - explain some extensions used in Gecko to add more semantic to the file. - inform where to find the actual WebIDL files as implemented by the different rendering engines. - explain how this info is used beyond browser developers, like for documentation purpose.

Don't be afraid of WebIDL anymore!

CSS saw a lot of changes in 2012. With the maturation of several specification, today Web developpers need less prefixes and can use new layouts. A review of : 1) what's new in the standard and when devs will be able to use it, 2) what's new in Gecko 3) what's coming up in 2013.

I will describe the technical and social aspects of documenting the Open Web, trying to extract common points applying to any open documentation project. I will present the different kinds of articles expected by the different users, their respective constraints and the solution we chose. I will talk about the accuracy problem and the communication processes. Finally I will speak about the challenges that the Open Web documentation is facing, like contributor motivation, the mobile Internet or new technological opportunities to improve the user experience.
