How did you learn to automate? This will be a presentation and frank discussion that will explore how to help people become proficient with automation.

We'll look at how Opscode, Puppet Labs, and CFEngine are approaching training. We'll discuss how participants learned to automate. What are the necessary pre-requisites? What tools are essential to getting started? What are the differences between getting started with automation for a project and joining a project with automation already in place? Let's set aside our framework biases and figure out some ideas on how to get new people started with automation.

Get a quick overview of several key technologies used in configuration / systems management. This will include an intro to Chef, Puppet and CFEngine (10 minutes each) with a 15 min panel Q&A. This session is meant to be an introduction to the DevRoom.
