Userspace software is imperfect and we all know about this. Running it for 5 minutes seems to be easy but what about days or weeks? This problem already gave server guys a lot of sleepless nights. Nowadays also IoT and embedded Linux world is facing very the same problem. Unfortunately solutions known from server world (Nagios and friends) usually cannot be directly applied.

During this talk Krzysztof will discuss problems related to monitoring and "healing" embedded Linux distribution. First, most common server approaches will be described. After that, Krzysztof will try to identify key problems of applying this solution to embedded platform. Then Krzysztof will introduce faultd - small but extendable daemon for system monitoring and CPR;). How to use it? What can it do? What are the advantages and disadvantages? All those questions should be answered in this part. Last part is going to be a discussion on a presented idea and experience sharing.

Driver not found, incorrect driver bound, kernel oops. If you've ever experienced any of those problems while using USB then this talk is exactly for you!

We start with a gentle introduction to the USB protocol itself. Then standard Linux host side infrastructure will be discussed. How drivers are chosen? How can we modify matching rules of a particular driver? That's only a couple of questions which will be answered in this part. Final part will be an introduction to USB communication sniffing. Krzysztof will show how to monitor and analyze USB traffic.

USB is considered by many people to be some kind of black magic or place where the dragons live... During this talk Krzysztof is going to smash this urban legend and show that creating custom USB devices may be both fast and easy!

The goal of this presentation is to create our own USB device on a cheap development board. To do this we have to start our journey with some brief introduction to USB protocol. Then we will run through its Linux implementation to scare off all the dragons. The next steps are open source projects which support user in creating their own USB devices using existing kernel infrastructure. Each part is supported by a suitable demo to ensure that there isn't any black magic.
