Biography

Hello, my name is Marcelo Schmitt, I'm an undergraduate computer science student at USP (Universidade de São Paulo - Brazil https://www5.usp.br/). I've been learning Linux Kernel development since October 2018 while sending some patches to the IIO subsystem. My contributions can be seen here https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/jic23/iio.git/log/?h=testing&qt=grep&q=Marcelo+Schmitt. I was a Ubuntu user since 2014; however, last year I was introduced to Debian, and my life changed since I realize that Debian is much faster than Ubuntu in my computer. These days, I'm really interested in Debian development cycle, and I want to learn more about it.
Additionally, I'm one of the members of a FLOSS group named FLUSP (https://flusp.ime.usp.br/) with the goal of spread Free Software philosophy at USP. Together we were accounted for 20% of all contributions made to the IIO subsystem from 10/03/2018 to 11/17/2018 (https://flusp.ime.usp.br/achievements/). Since then we've been keeping FLOSS development as well as promoting installfests and bringing new people to the community. With weekly meetings, we share development experiences, some of which are cataloged in our website under the tutorials tag (e.g., https://flusp.ime.usp.br/tutorials/). I hope I can join Debconf and learn much more about Debian for helping to diffuse this knowledge between undergrad students.
