Die Industrie hat hoch automatisierte Prozesse zur Produktion von Elektronik. Wie aber kann der Ansatz des automatisierten De-Assemblements am Ende des Produktlebens funktionieren? Was ist dafür notwendig? Das besprechen wir in dieser Session.

Elektronikschrott ist ein riesen Problem. Recycling findet kaum statt und der Müll wird oft nach Afrika verschickt, wo er die lokale Bevölkerung vergiftet. Beim Splitting des Elektromülls in seine Bestandteile geht es um die Zerlegung in seine Rohstoffbestandteile, aber auch hier ist der Recyclinggrad niedrig. Doch es geht auch anders. Neben der Möglichkeit durch Open-Hardware-Ansätze die Reparierbarkeit von Geräten zu erhöhen und die Langlebigkeit zu gewährleisten, gibt es am End-of-Life eines Produkts die Möglichkeit die Bestandteile auf den Leiterplatten der Hardware abzulöten. Over the last two years our team has been working on the Pocket Science Lab. While we were connecting with each other online for years the Corona crisis posed a new challenge to us: Chip and component shortages. In this panel we will share our story of how we are tackling this problem and our ideas on how to move forward with local production to solve global delivery issues and reduce the carbon footprint of shipping.

Over the last two years our team has been working on the Pocket Science Lab. While we were connecting with each other online for years the Corona crisis posed a new challenge to us: Chip and component shortages. Even getting prototypes for testing became difficult. In this panel we will share our story of how we are tackling this problem and how the dedication of our community members in Sri Lanka, Sweden, China, India and Germany are essential to overcome difficulties. This session is conceived as a panel where we will also share our ideas about how to move forward with local production to solve global delivery issues and reduce the carbon footprint of shipping. **Panelists**:

PSLab is a small USB powered iOT board to do measurements. It comes with slots for ESP WiFi chips and Bluetooth and can be used as hardware extension for Android phones or PCs. PSLab has a built-in Oscilloscope, Multimeter, Wave Generator, Logic Analyzer, Power Source, and we are constantly adding more digital instruments. To start measuring, connect two wires to the relevant pins and use the Android or desktop apps to view and collect the data. You can also plug in hundreds of compatible I²C standard sensors to the PSLab pin slots or even control robots with the robotic arm tool.

While it is standard to deploy every single code commit using CI systems and deploy new code automatically we are only at the beginning of automation for designing hardware. In this talk I will share the experience with continuous integration tools in FOSSASIA hardware projects, and specifically our Pocket Science Lab. I will outline opportunities and challenges for implementing CI processes for hardware.

With PSlab apart from the firmware we have connected CI processes to our hardware repository. This means each design change can be automatically build into a digital prototype. Electronics materials are largely standardized and with KiCad we are even able to create package lists and Gerber files automatically. Furthermore we deploy to Kitspace using a yaml file. Here any user can order all components and the board through a one-click process. Every version could easily be built here.

In this talk we will cover the development path of the Pocket Science Lab (PSLab) board from version one in 2014 to today and outline how we use tools like KiCad to bring the device to large scale production. We will also share some major issues that we solved to get the device manufacturing ready and challenges that lie ahead of us like ensuring thorough device testing at production.

In this talk we will cover the development path of the Pocket Science Lab (PSLab) board from version one in 2014 to today and outline how we use tools like KiCad to bring the device to large scale production. The goal of Pocket Science Lab is to create an Open Source hardware device (open on all layers) and software applications that can be used for experiments. The tiny pocket lab provides an array of instruments for doing science and engineering experiments. It provides functions of numerous measurement tools including an oscilloscope, a waveform generator, a frequency counter, a programmable voltage, current source and even a component to control robots with up to four servos.

The goal of Pocket Science Lab is to miniaturize laboratories with FOSS and Open Hardware. We have released the first commercial FOSS version. The talk covers our journey from developing FOSS Hardware and to scaling up to large scale production.

PSLab is a tiny pocket science lab that provides an array of test and measurement instruments for doing science and engineering experiments. It can function like an oscilloscope, waveform generator, frequency counter, programmable voltage and current source and also as a data logger. An Android app is developed and available on app stores. A desktop version is available in Python. In the session we will also explain how the software applications with their unique functionalities help to grow the PSLab and Open Science community.

Eventyay is built based on the experiences and lesson learned from organizers of FOSSASIA Summit after a several years searching for suitable solution.

SUSI.AI is a personal assistant framework for personal assistants developed with the FOSSASIA community. It is an alternative to proprietary solutions like Alexa, Siri and Google Home. Other Open Assistants are MyCroft and Jasper. In this session we will discuss the next steps in bringing free personal assistants into Debian, talk about components, architectures and requirements.
