What happens under the hood when you visit a website and what data is actually shared about you and who can actually access this data?

In this talk I will explain web communication in general and why you need to know exactly what services you are using on your website to protect your users from having their personal data exploited by 3rd parties with unknown agendas. I will also talk what the PII definition within GDPR means in practical terms when you are using a web analytics tool like Matomo. I would argue that almost everyone that uses Matomo is storing PII without knowing so. I will also talk about why Matomo is a good tool in these cases since we can actually act on these issues.

Tracking SPA applications is something that often leads to bad data and frustrations, I will share my best practices and demo how to make it work.

Example two - Set up event listners in Matomo that will get data from tracking events written in your SPA.

We have been running several large Matomo instances the last years and as most people know Matomo can be pretty slow when your data grows. I will share some of our biggest mistakes and also talk about how we managed them.

I will cover some areas like: -Basic server configurations -DB tuning -Segments and performance -Cron archiving tips I will also show you a plugin I built to help out in finding problems with your Matomo set-up

UserFeedback is our form builder plugin for Matomo and in this session I will demo its functionality.

With UserFeedback you can: Build forms with the included form builder and customize fields and values. After creating a form, you can display this form anywhere on your website (as long as you use Matomos Tag Manager). You can also customize how to display the forms. We have built in support for: -Overlay display -Feedback button -Raw (inline) It is also easy to add you custom styling to the forms After publishing a form to your site, feedback data will be collected in Matomo and you can also use Matomos "Segments" to filter down you results.

This will be a hands on screen sharing session where I set up everything from scratch on a website so that you can watch and learn.

I will set up Matomo on a new website so that you can follow everything step by step and also ask questions along the way. This will include a set up of cookie less tracking and consent management.
