Lange nutzten nur Bibliotheken die Gemeinsame Normdatei. Im Zuge des digitalen Wandels steigt der Bedarf nach Retrieval der Daten. Man möchte nicht nur GND-Identifkatoren nutzen, sondern bei Bedarf neue GND-Datensätze bezugnehmend auf museale Objekte, Archivalien und Forschungsdaten anlegen und pflegen können. Gerade das DFG-geförderte Projekt "GND für Kulturdaten" (GND4C) verdeutlicht diesen Bedarf. Es braucht eine zugängliche Software und eine technisch überzeugende Plattform, um Regeln und Ausnahmen zur Modellierung, zu relevanten Eigenschaften und Relationen reflektieren, diskutieren und dokumentieren zu können.
In der Debatte um Linked Open Data wird Verlässlichkeit der Daten immer stärker an die Transparenz und Nachvollziehbarkeit ihrer Referenzierung geknüpft - am liebsten für jede einzelne Aussage. Und schließlich ist die Multilingualität der Benennungen erwünscht, denn das Internet macht vor Sprachgrenzen nicht halt. Wikidata erfüllt diese Wünsche und ist doch keine Normdatei. Aber Wikidata basiert auf der von Wikimedia Deutschland entwickelten Software Wikibase. In einem gemeinsamen Kooperationsprojekt mit Wikimedia Deutschland hat die DNB daher die Leistungsfähigkeit von Wikibase für die GND untersucht und getestet:
- Wie könnte eine modulare GND "2.0" in Wikibase aussehen, die den Anforderungen der verschiedenen Sparten gerecht wird?
- Wie lassen sich effektiv und überschaubar die Regeln zu den modellierten Eigenschaften der Entitätstypen abbilden?
- Wie lässt sich eine stabile Synchronisierung zwischen einer GND-Wikibase-Instanz zur CBS-basierten Master-Instanz umsetzen?
Im Hands-on-Lab möchte das Projektteam Ihnen am Beispiel einer prototypischen Umsetzung die Möglichkeiten der Software näherbringen. Sie lernen anhand einer Beispielinstanz wie mit der Software Normdateneinträge, GND-Konzepte und Dokumentationen verwaltet werden können. Und wir wollen uns mit Ihnen über die Chancen der Zusammenarbeit im Kulturbereich austauschen.

This session will combine several ideas and speakers around data partnerships. Anyone who thinks about data partnerships from a data donation to Wikidata to a Wikibase instance at a GLAM partner is welcome to join us. First, Wikimedia Deutschland's software development teams will present the recently drafted '''model for data partnerships''': What makes a data partnership different from other kinds of partnerships in the Wikimedia movement? What phases does a data partnership have and what’s the decision process behind it? What types of data partnerships are there, how do we plan a sustainable data partnership project, monitor it and allocate resources to it? We have compiled our model for data partnerships at Wikimedia Deutschland and would like to share it with you. In the second part, participants will present on two cases of data partnerships: '''The German National Library (DNB)''' maintains the Gemeinsame Normdatei (GND), the Integrated Authority File for the German-speaking world of libraries. Working within the Wikiverse isn’t new for the German National Library: Since 2008 volunteer Wikipedia editors have been working with the DNB to fix errors in the Authority File. But now the German National Library takes the GND one step further into the wikified Linked Open Data Web: By exploring Wikibase, the software behind Wikidata, as a platform for the GND. Follow us on our journey through libraryland and the world of Linked Data. We’ll tell you about the project that brings a Federal agency and Wikimedia software (and culture!) together. Join us to learn about where we are now, how we have come there, and what we have learned about national libraries and Wikibase along the way! '''Open Cities - Linking Data in Sustainable Cities and Communities''' - Imagine your city as a wiki — what would you do with the data available on mobility, schools and daycare centers, the environment and more? What would you need to get most out of public data sources like Open Government Data and Wikidata? We want your thoughts and ideas about opportunities and barriers  provided by data and how we can link data for the benefit of all of us in open cities. After a short introduction of where we come from (Open Data Düsseldorf and the Wikidata team of Wikimedia Deutschland) we want to listen to, discuss and collect your ideas for the future of modern living environment. Panelists will be available for questions and discussion in the third part of the session.

Wikidata has been a game-changer for Wikimedia over the last years. Did you know that Wikibase, the software running Wikidata, is now also a thing? GLAMs, open data projects, research projects and more are showing a lot of interest in Wikibase now, using it to run their own knowledge bases. But we have a much bigger plan than just helping institutions open up their data. In this session you will learn more about the Wikibase Ecosystem and what opportunities it opens up for Wikimedia, its partners and people all over the world and why it will influence everything Wikimedia does over the next few years.

This year Wikimedia Deutschland e.V. partnered with the Computerspielemuseum Berlin and Cologne Game Lab to hold the first ever Free Knowledge Game Jam in Berlin in October 2015. A game jam is hackathon for games, where over the course of 24 hours, a game (or a prototype) should be developed. In our game jam we gave out a common theme: use one aspect of Free Knowledge in the game. The event was a great way to bring two worlds together - the world of Free Knowledge and Open Source software and the (often verycommercially-minded) game industry. This talk aims to introduce you to our concept of creating and promoting open source and free knowledge games via a game jam. Of course we will show you some of the creative games made during this event, too. Some games in-corporated open assets like graphics and sound. Some others used data or photos which are free to use via the Wikimedia APIs or repositories of Free Knowledge like Wikimedia Commons.

This talk is aimed at developers who are looking for a way to use open content for their games and for game jam organisers who will get an insight into what its like to push the creation of open source games in a fun way.

We worked together with partners such as the Computerspielemuseum Berlin, Gamelab.berlin from the Humboldt University Berlin and Cologne Game Lab. Furthermore, we had media partners such as the well known indie game festival A.MAZE and the Berlin city senate project Projekt Zukunft which helped us make the event as great as it was.
