In my opinion, the way we deal with (non-free) firmware in Debian is a mess, and this is hurting many of our users daily. For a long time we've been pretending that supporting and including (non-free) firmware on Debian systems is not necessary. We don't want to have to provide (non-free) firmware to our users, and in an ideal world we wouldn't need to. Projects like Debian can only exist in a connected world, but the immense increase in communication capability of the Internet also has a dark side. The same capabilities that enable intense technical collaboration across immense distances also make it possible for negative voices to be amplified. This session will be a panel discussion featuring some well-known, long-time contributors to Debian who are willing to share their experiences and advice on how to remain focused on what's important. Criticism is vitally important to Debian, but developers need to be able to extract the constructive elements from public discussions. Hopefully, the content of this session will help!

Discussion session for people working on (and those interested in) the topic of UEFI Secure Boot in Debian. We've not made the progress a lot of us were hoping for (getting Secure Boot into the Stretch release), and that's depressing given how long we've been talking about this and some people have been working on the changes needed. We need to remove the blocks, and a face-to-face meeting should help with that I hope. Agenda: 1. Where we are today 2. Where we want to get to 3. Tools and processes - how does it all work? How would we do it better? 4. What are the next steps needed?

32-bit time_t is going to run out (fairly) soon. There are efforts ongoing to try and fix it, but there's a lot of work to be done. What can/should we do to help?

We've had a lot of discussion recently about plans for producing official Debian images supporting various cloud services. Let's have some face-to-face session to cover: * what images we should be producing * tools to make those images * testing those images * when/where/who/how ...?

Discussion of the state of the ARM ports, and planning for the future. Let's have a get-together for the people working on the ARM ports in Debian, and anybody else interested. We'll discuss (among other topics) the current state of the ports, where things are going well and not so well, what hardware people are using and how to better support it, and which ports we want to continue supporting in the future.

A friendly introduction to free software, open source, and Debian, with an opportunity for the audience to ask questions.

More and more distributions are porting their software to run on ARM CPUs. This is a session for people working on or otherwise interested in those ports to share progress reports, problems and ideas. Steve will start the discussion with the current status of the two ARM ports in Debian ("armel" and "armhf"), but is not planning on spending the whole session on that!
