Welcome to DebConf20! Feel at home, grab a drink and snacks, and feel welcome to join us in the largest auditorium we have ever had in the world. We sincerely hope you are not jetlagged and that the facilities are conveniently located. We will make our best effort for you to feel home. Along with all the usual chores, doing the dishes, taking care of the kids, and so on. This session will... Well, basically serve the social purpose of saying "hello and welcome", and kickstarting our exciting week of online activities. We know that it's not the DebConf we usually have every year, but we are striving to provide the closest possible experience to it!

In this talk I will git a short introduction into a tooling called 'apt-repos' aimed for debian based distribution providers. This tool helps people that often work with multiple apt-repositores and suites. Similar to the well known tools 'apt (show|policy|search)', 'apt update', 'dpkg (-l)' it prints information about binary packages and source packages that live in apt-repositories. In contrast to these tools that typically work on a concrete local host with a concrete local apt-setup, this tool allows to inspect (and compare) multiple independent apt-repositories and suites without coupling the local system to these repositories. https://github.com/lhm-limux/apt-repos Get a first impression about how the tool could help in your daily business as distribution provider; see how the command line tool works and if there's time left how to use it's python3 library within your own infrastructure tools.

In this session, we will first focus **Equality** in Free Software communities, I am inviting community members from Debian and other projects to join me discussing 1) What do organizations do to ensure equal opportunity for members 2) How decision process is made in the Free Software world. 3) Can lessons learned from Free Software help to improve social equality? **Audience** Anyone who cares about equal opportunity in society **What will we get out of it** Transparent ideas and actions will be documented and shared in a blog article. Potentially formation of working group to work on this topic moving forward.

As on every DebConf the members of the Debian Med team will meet to discuss future development. There will be a short introduction into Debian Med for newcomers.

Our thoughts about cooperation aspects of doing things together. Sometimes in Debian we do work together with others, and sometimes we are a number of people who work alone, and happen to all upload their work in the same place. In times when we have needed to take important decisions together, this distinction has become crucial, and some of us might have found that we were not as good at cooperation as we would have thought. This talk is intended for everyone who is part of a larger community. We will show concepts and tools that we think could help understand and shape cooperation.

Federated social networks are a user-centered alternative to the centralized, data-collection based ones everybody knows. From their beginnings as a place to talk about federated social networks, they have now grown into a rich environment And thanks to the efforts of the DebianSocial team, Debian contributors can find a home on the Fediverse to share what they're doing in the project and to showcase their work, collaborate with others and share knowledge. This talk will start with a presentation about the federated social networks, what they look like today and why they are important and relevant to the Debian community, and will continue with a presentation of the work of the DebianSocial team.

For some, talking about diversity within the development community seems to be not part of what Debian is about, and that is Free Software. In this BoF we want to discuss how diversity within the community actually is enhancing and moving forward the project more than assumed, and how different live circumstances actually can lead to different views on how to approach things and thus also stir more creative approaches, for the benefit of all.

El mundo del empaquetamiento para Debian es muy amplio. En este taller explicaré cómo hacer tu primer paquete para Debian usando debhelper. Habrá tiempo para hacer algunos ejercicios para que te familiarices con la herramienta y puedas continuar después de la plática. Un favorsote: para seguir el workshop se necesita tener instalados los siguientes paquetes: ``devscripts build-essential lintian dh-make``. No se asignará tiempo para la instalación.

A partir de un laboratorio generado en el marco del FLISOL 2019 en el Rancho Electrónico continuaremos con la creación del paquete .deb feminismos. Basados en la estructura del paquete fortune-anarchism hemos generado una primera versión del paquete feminismos. La actividad cumple con tres objetivos. El primero es poder conocer aspectos generales del empaquetamiento como .deb. El segundo objetivo es abordar el feminsimo dentro de la comunidad debian, problematizando la desinformación y prejuicios que puede haber en torno al feminismo pero también poniendo en discuión la importancia de generar espacios diversos y seguros. El tercer objetivo es enriquecer el paquete feminismos.

Dedicated User Environment (DUE) is an open source tool for creating and supporting different Debian based build environments. Written in Bash, it is both a collection of wrapper scripts that allow for the configuration of build environments in Docker containers, and a launcher application that makes managing and working inside those containers as user friendly as possible. In addition, DUE supports configurations that can make building most software for any Debian based operating system as easy as building a package. Its user base can range from novice developers who want to try building something without changing their host machine configuration, to build systems engineers deploying it on shared user systems and integrating it with build automation. In this talk I'll discuss the number of problems that DUE solves, why it used internally at Cumulus Networks/Nvidia to support our Jessie and Buster based releases of Cumulus Linux, and how it became the recommended build environment for the ONIE open source project.

Every computer needs power; much of the Earth is bombarded with power for significant parts of every day! What a useful cooincidence! I'd like to share my experiences moving my office to mostly using solar power, sparks and all! I'll go over the various components, including some of the free software and open hardware projects used in the system, give thanks to community members who helped, and delve into my future schemes for going further off-grid.

Marga has been working in the Linux industry for over 15 years. On top of being a Debian Developer, she was the co-head of IT of a company in Argentina that migrated from Windows to Debian, she was an engineer in the team that maintained the internal Linux distribution at Google, and she's now working on Flatcar Container Linux (a successor to CoreOS), which is a container-optimized Linux distribution. Each of these roles has brought on different challenges, and has meant applying different approaches to getting the results that most closely reflects user's expectations. This talk will explore these challenges, discuss how some approaches can serve on one problem-domain but not another and look into the future to try to figure out the relevance of the OS in the coming years.

Introduction on what is and how Salsa CI can ease your work. The Salsa CI pipeline was created 2 years ago, since then the adoption has grown a lot. Did Salsa CI make things better? Does it help anyone? We will show you an analisys of the impact and how the project has grown.

You're going to think I am nuts for saying this. I think I have worked out what comes after Open Source. It preserves the goals of Free Software and Open Source, preserves the reasons we succeeded, and deals with the ways in which we've failed. Which are: We wanted to give people freedom, but we never won the hearts and minds of the common people, they still use proprietary software. We created our own extractive industries, and both income and control went to those who exploited the developer, rather than the developers themselves. We were never able to deal with the problem of software patents effectively. We have no good troll defense. OIN is at least as much for protecting the software patent system from Open-Source-driven reform as it is for protecting us from software patents. We created a tower of babel of licenses. We did not design-in license compliance, and we have a tremendous noncompliance problem that isn't getting better. We can't afford to sue our copyright infringers. We did not design a good framework for where proprietary software can go, and where it never should. Our license loopholes are exploited. I think I have worked out the next step after Open Source, which addresses these things while preserving the good of Open Source and furthering the original goals of Free Software. La familia de computadoras Raspberry Pi ya no debe resultar nueva para ninguno de nosotros. Desde su aparición en 2012 han vendido decenas de millones de unidades. Del mercado educativo, espacio original para el cual fueron diseñadas, saltaron a todo tipo de proyectos electrónicos y de _semiembebidos_ por su versatilidad y bajo precio. No es aventurado decir que estas humildes computadoras definieron un segmento completo de mercado. Debian es una de las primeras distribuciones Linux en tener buen soporte para la arquitectura ARM, a la cual pertenecen los procesadores de las Raspberry. Sin embargo, hasta hace poco, prácticamente nadie –ni siquiera nosotros los debianeros de corazón– podía recomendar el uso de Debian directamente para estas maquinitas. Desde un inicio, las Raspberry venían con una distribución derivada de Debian, pero con características muy propias, llamada _Raspbian_. Hace un par de años, Michael Stapelberg inició un proyecto para generar imágenes de Debian capaces de ser utilizadas en las Raspberry Pi. Después de un tiempo, yo retomé ese proyecto. En esta charla quiero presentarles lo que aquí describí, explicar las razones detrás de esta realidad, y presentarles el trabajo que hemos logrado este año para que puedan utilizar directamente el Debian que aman y en el que confían en todos sus proyectos Raspberry!

The Reproducible Builds Team has been doing a very important job since its starting. In this talk I will share an explanation in Spanish about the purposes, achievements, differents ways to help in the project and its current state in 2020, with the intention that it can be useful for Spanish speakers who want to know about the project and collaborate in the team. This talk is for the Spanish language track of the DebConf20. El equipo de Reproducible Builds ha estado realizando un trabajo muy importante desde su inicio. En esta charla compartiré una explicación en español sobre los propósitos, los logros, las diferentes formas de ayudar en el proyecto y su estado actual en el 2020, con la intención de que pueda ser útil para hispanoparlantes que deseen conocer acerca del proyecto y colaborar en el equipo. MySQL replication has been around for well over a decade and the latest version of MySQL has a lot of advancements. InnoDB cluster provides a fault tolerant, highly available cluster. Groups can operate in a single-primary mode with automatic primary election, where only one server accepts updates at a time with read-only replicas to split the load. Alternatively, groups can be deployed in multi-primary mode, where all servers can accept updates, even if they are issued concurrently. And to make bringing a new cluster member online easier,there is a clone plugin permits cloning data locally or from a remote MySQL server instance. Cloned data is a physical snapshot of data stored in InnoDB that includes schemas, tables, tablespaces, and data dictionary metadata to have the new system operational as quickly as possible. MySQL Router is a Level 4 proxy to handle the flow of your data. Plus there are utilities in the New MySQL Shell, mysqlsh, for the easy administration of a cluster. So if you have not looked at MySQL replication in a while your will be happily surprised with the new features and performance.

Initiate trainings that perpetuate themselves. Introducting a community-organizing method I have used, also anecdotes from other communities. Similar to [each-one-teach-one](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Each_one_teach_one) but faster, a [grassroots](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grassroots) method called [peer-to-peer](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Social_peer-to-peer_processes) education. A small group can get things rolling and the larger community benefits. For Debian community, skills training might best include good governance processes, moderation, conflict resolution, meeting-efficiency or similar topics. Debian already depends on overlapping group projects supporting a larger whole. So peer-to-peer training should feel natural. Artificial Intelligence is a world-wide trend of technology development, where deep learning manifests its promising power on solving problems impossible for traditional algorithms to solve. Yet powerful, the artificial intelligent software deeply rely on hardware computational capability and software optimization. Thus, the artificial intelligence software are highly related with computation acceleration. This talk will focus on summarizing the current status of deep learning framework packaging in Debian, and that of the computation acceleration libraries (e.g. BLAS/LAPACK and ROCm). The existing problems and challenges will also be summarized. I'm not physically attending the conference. So this will be a pre-recorded video.

The Linux kernel has a very active development community, constantly adding not only new hardware support but new features. Some of these features can simply be enabled by the configuration in the Debian package, but some also require support from other user-space packages. This talk will cover some of the more interesting changes made in the past year, and any work that’s still needed to support these in Debian.

Like previous years, the Debian Ruby team would gather together to discuss the work they've done so far and the work that needs to be done for Ruby 3.0. Besides that, this meeting will be used to discuss other activities that are going within the team, like new workflows, what's working and what's not, etcetera. With a general awareness of a reproducibility crisis in many scientific areas and increasing importance of research data management in science and policy making, data-driven fields require convenient and scalable data management solutions. Standing on the shoulders of Git and git-annex (git-annex.branchable.com/, Joey Hess), DataLad provides a decentralized solution that enables the joint management of code, data, and complete containerized computational environments in a scalable and distributed fashion. With features such as unambiguous version control, a wide spectrum of data transport mechanisms, convenient provenance capture, and re-execution for verification or as an alternative to storage and transport, it enables and facilitates many aspects of open and reproducible science: collaboration, sharing, analytical transparency, computational reproducibility of digital research objects, and disk-space aware storage and computing workflows on infrastructure that ranges from personal laptops up to supercomputers. In this talk, we will introduce DataLad, present its main features which should be of interest to the audience regardless of their relation to any field of science, and share the process and status of its adoption in the neuroimaging community.

A multilingual command-line allows the users to interact with the computers from the command-line in multiple languages. Up until now, the command-line interface mostly had commands that are more or less English-like or have mnemonics made out of English words. This makes it difficult for new command-line users, who are also non-English speakers to use this interface. Thus the major question is how to help non-English speakers to work with the command-line interface in their native languages. Is there a need to rewrite the command-line emulators so that they can support multiple human languages? This talk will present the different ways to extend the command line for interaction in multiple languages.

Come to discovery why Debian Brasil has been quoted on talks and BoFs as an good example of local team. On this talk I will tell you how I met Debian Brasil community and years later I become one of the local leaders on efforts to bring Debian to all brazilians, helping on events and others projects. I will show all the work we have done here in Brazil for the last years, inclunding organize MiniDebConfs, DebConf19, and other events. Producing content on a YouTube channel. En esta charla me gustaría contar mi experiencia participando una comunidad de usuarios de software de código abierto y de software libre. Durante mis estudios en la Universidad pude observar que existe un muy bajo incentivo en usar y contribuir en proyectos FOSS tanto en los alumnos como en los profesores. Y esta situación continúa hoy en día. En el año 2019 decidí crear una comunidad de usuarios y contribuidores de proyectos open source en mi ciudad para tratar de incentivar la participación, sobre todo a los alumnos de la Universidad, en proyectos de código abierto y software libre. Nos hemos reunidos una vez por mes, hemos creado un grupo en Telegram, y tratamos de buscar algún proyecto para comenzar a contribuir, pero tristemente no hemos llegado lejos. El interés por la comunidad fue cayendo con el paso del tiempo y varios integrantes han dejado de participar en el grupo. Desde mi humilde punto de vista los resultados obtenidos podrían estar relacionados a un problema en la educación de mi ciudad. Esta charla está dirigida al publico en general, en esta charla no se tratarán temas técnicos, y estaría muy bueno poder llevar a cabo un debate o brainstorming de la problemática.

This talk will show you how to do Debian packaging on your private Open Build Service instance.

There were devices like the N900 and the Ubuntu phone running Debian based distributions before but now we have phones without proprietary software components (maybe except firmware) and mainline kernel support is emerging. Needed software is already in Debian or on it's way in. This talk gives an overview about the Phosh/GNOME based software stack. Where we are heading, what is still left to do to make it every day usable for hackers but also people that just want control over their devices back.

The Unixoid operating systems (particularly Linux) have grown up in the era of workstations. Hence they use a couple of mechanisms designed for operating finite, closed and trusted structures of systems and user accounts: Global numeric IDs for user accounts, a permission system for cooperative file sharing built on groups, coming with arcane devices like primary groups and umasks. When running a stand-alone system, e. g. a notebook, using Linux today, these mechanisms get hardly in the way: there is only *one* user account running and operating the system. Problems arise when a huge infrastructure with thousands of systems and users is centrally configured using a directory service (e. g. LDAP). When done naively, the relics of the workstation era sneak in, obscuring the idea of modern desktop systems. This talk points out potential pitfalls and suggests work-arounds. It draws on experience running a huge Linux infrastructure in the public administration at the city of Munich. This BoF is a chance for anyone interested in rust on Debian and packaging rust software to talk about their interests and issues. In case you don't already know, Rust is an efficient new language with some very nice features for security and parallelism https://www.rust-lang.org/ As it grows in popularity more software is written in it, which means there is a demand for it in distributions. Do you have particular rust software you would like to package? One subject we hope to cover is the problem that the current mapping of rust crates to packages produces a lot of small binary packages that then get stuck in the NEW queue. This is unsatisfactory for everyone: FTPmasters, rust packagers and users. On July 18th Stretch LTS starts, offering two more years of security support to the Debian Stretch release. Stretch LTS will be the fourth iteration of LTS, following Squeeze LTS which started in 2014, Wheezy LTS in 2016, and Jessie LTS in 2018. The LTS team would like to gather together to discuss the work they’ve done so far and the work that needs to be done for the upcoming years, areas that could be improved upon, and potentially discussing the feedback that we've got from the LTS survey!

During this session we will also discuss Python’s future in Debian and how people can help. Whether you’re just using Python, or you would like to be involved in the Debian Python Team, this BoF is for you!

During debconf12 in Nicaragua, we met in a bar and had some poetry. It was a great idea that inspired to have on during debconf13 in Switzerland next to the campfire, which also gave it a great ambience. debconf15 in Germany also had one at the "stonehenge" place, unfortunately there was a concert scheduled at the same time, so the idea sort of faded away ... It would be great to try it once again. I've been personally approached by several people that would be interested to give it another try. It would be great if people that want to present something can contact me beforehand so that I know about the amount of poetry (self written, something you relate to a lot with potentially some personal remarks, ...) we will have, to see if we can lift this off again. Let's bring back some written thoughts that are moving.

FreedomBox, the pure blend to bring Debian to home servers, has had a productive year. In collaboration with Olimex, an OSHW manufacturer, we have launched FreedomBox home server kits that users can buy and set up at home. This move saw a significant increase in user participation in the project. We have made a lot of progress so far in FreedomBox - simplified user experience, easy to acquire hardware, automatic configuration, well-managed security and a sizeable number of apps to wean us off of the proprietary surveillance-based cloud services we have come to depend on. We have quite a few plans for the coming year. We want to improve our hardware offering by working with Olimex and also reach out to potential new partners. We will try to add some features such as Audio/Video conferencing, crucial missing apps and even prepare FreedomBox for NAS use cases at home while getting ready for a solid Bullseye release. This talk discusses the progress of the project over the last year, what has been achieved as part of the bigger picture, our plans for the coming year and how the larger Debian community can contribute to the effort.

I'd be happy to do a intro talk from Lenovo if that is of interest. Perhaps discussing and brainstorming on how Lenovo and Debian can collaborate more closely - I'd really love to get Lenovo contributing more actively to the Debian community. I'm open to suggestions as to what could or should be covered - basically I'm happy to make myself available for questions and I'm happy to present a few slides if that would be of interest - showing some of the work Lenovo is doing in the open source world and explaining some of the details of our Linux project which has been growing rapidly. There was a fairly recent mailing list thread about doing a Debian preload and some of the challenges that raises for both the Debian community and HW manufacturers like Lenovo which I think would be a topic folk would be interested in.

There are currently different ways to get started in the world of Debian, as in its community and as an operating system. In order to make Debian more welcoming and to allow new people interested in the project to learn in a more friendly and pleasant way, it is necessary to have an own platform of courses about Debian, in which having contents of different subjects related to the technical as well as to the social thing within Debian, an approach of new enthusiasts and future collaborators is achieved. This talk will share a user's story, his interest in collaborating on the Debian project, the obstacles he face, and to present a learning proposal that can be of great help to the Debian Social and to the Debian Community teams to enrich our great Free Software community with new audiovisual learning forms officially taught by collaborators and developers of the Debian Project.

Many people do not normally associate their paper documents with records and that they actually are undertaking the process of record keeping when they organize their documents Today online services organize many aspects of our lives and it is likely that people are increasingly letting third parties store and preserve their records without understanding the consequence that their records could easily fall away if the service provider so wishes. Traditionally paper based documents were organized and preserved within plastic folders, but what are the modern digital equivalents to help us organize and store our records/documents? How do we search within our records? What software does the FOSS community provide for people wishing to organize their digital documents in a world where third parties store everything for us. [Nikita](https://gitlab.com/OsloMet-ABI/nikita-noark5-core) is a FOSS implementation of a Norwegian record keeping and preservation standard called [Noark](https://github.com/arkivverket/noark5-tjenestegrensesnitt-standard). The project has been developed over a number of years and is worthy of inspection to learn more about record-keeping. There is not really a big difference in public sector record keeping and private record keeping in terms of the required underlying software functionality that is needed. In this talk we will take a look at some of the principles used in record keeping and how they are applicable to individuals looking for a way to store their documents. Then we will take a look at the technical side of Nikita and describe the principles behind the API and our implementation of the OData standard. We will wrap up with a description about future work and where we see the project going.

The [Debian Janitor](https://janitor.debian.net/) is a project to automate the making of certain changes to Debian packages. The project started sending out pull requests for simple issues reported by Lintian at the end of 2019; since then, [more than 3000 automated changes](https://janitor.debian.net/lintian-fixes/merge-proposals) have been merged into packaging repositories. This talk will focus on architecture of the Janitor and plans to extend it beyond fixes for Lintian issues.

Nowadays, companies use more and more SaaS providers in the cloud for their operations. However, there can still be a lot value in operating your own infrastructure, be it for compliance reasons or in order to better control your costs. In particular, we think running highly integrated services on bare Debian systems makes it very easy to update and (in case of problems) debug those services. Two examples will be discussed in this session: 1. Building a 3-node highly available PostgreSQL cluster using the Patroni Debian package and 2. Installing a stand-alone PostgreSQL installation fully featured with backups, monitoring and administration tools via the Elephant-Shed packages. Both can be deployed non-interactively via e.g. Ansible. The first uses Debian-specific scripts which allow to configure a 3-way cluster identically on each node based off a template configuration. The second uses extensive integration of systemd services to configure and automate e.g. backups, as well as provisioning capabilities provided by Grafana. The `Debian Android Tools` team is focused on packaging the Android development tools for Debian. The goal of this team is to get as much of the Android SDK and development tools into Debian as possible. This year we plan to have major feature inclusion which helps both android and java teams by bringing `Kotlin` language and updating `Gradle` which is one of the major build systems for both java and kotlin projects. Major changes bring with major work and responsibility. Since kotlin and Gradle are dependent there are a lot of things to discuss. We plan to update `platform-tools` and `sdkmanager` to the latest upstream available according to the newer style tags available, this will bring us to close to maintaining things inline with upstream. Apart from discussing the new features, various discussions about team maintenance and it’s future and interaction with the outreach students are also expected to happen. Hence, it will be great to meet, and discuss it together. Always nice to see people hiding behind nicks :)

A brief talk on state of Malayalam writing in GNU/Linux systems. Tips to make writing easier, and setting up a system to use Malayalam easier. This talk is intended for beginners/hobby writers to GNU/Linux. I'm also new to writing Malayalam in GNU/Linux, so my "new" perspective and hurdles I faced will help others I hope. I come from writing Malayalam on Android, which was very easy, but struggled to get it going on desktop. Proprietary desktop OS also seem to have this problem. In this session, we will host a panel of people who hold (or who have held) leadership positions within Debian. We'll go through a few questions for the panel and then continue with open questions and discussion.

The goal of this talk is to give a an update on the state of Reproducible Builds for the upcoming Debian "bullseye" release, focussing on the promise of enabling anyone to independently verifying that binaries distributed on ftp.debian.org were made using the sources. It’s been 7 years since Reproducible Builds were first introduced to the Debian community at large at DebConf13 in Vaumarcus and much progress has been achieved since, yet without some dedicated actions from several teams in Debian it will very hard to verify those binaries we actually distribute. So the idea is to present the curent status of the project together with a hopefully complete list of bugs preventing the above promise from being reality and sparking some work together to fix at least some of the bugs during DebConf 20 online. There is a not-so-definite link between Free Software and the pianola, also known as a "player piano". maddog has been collecting automated musical instruments for years, and has noticed, and documented, this relationship. This talk will be illustrated with some of maddog's instruments and will also supply sound clips from his collection. This is for a general audience, hopefully seeing links between patents, copyrights and other IP issues.

MariaDB has now reached the 6th major release since the original authors of MySQL started taking the code base in another direction than where MySQL is going under Oracle's ownership. Today MariaDB has many more features than Oracle MySQL and it is the default MySQL variant in Debian. This presentation covers what new features landed in MariaDB 10.5 and also touches on how the long existing features have evolved to today, and naturally what is their state and best practices for Debian users. MariaDB has also built-in support for Galera master-master replication and Galera 4 has recently landed in Debian, so it will also be covered. At the end of the presentation there is also a chance to discuss the state of the Debian packaging with the packagers of MariaDB, Galera etc al in Debian.

Practical is a new programming language. While it is still very early in its development cycle, and definitely not yet ready for general consumption, by being willing to question the most basic of assumptions taken for granted by other languages (namely, C and C++), it has been able to uncover a very different, better, way of doing things. This talk will cover: - How C, and therefor C++, D and many others, treats integers and integer promotion - Why it is fundamentally broken, in ways that cause actual bugs every day. - The Practical approach to integer promotion. - How that approach affects other areas: - User defined casts - Function overloading

The idea for this session it to get together and discuss all autopkgtest/Debian CI related aspects. If you have ideas on how to test your package but don’t know exactly how to wire things up for running with autopkgtest, want to share your joy and/or your frustration with the tools or with the environments, or have tips or questions on writing autopkgtest tests, this is for you. autopkgtest runs tests on binary packages. The tests are run on the package as installed on a testbed system (which may be found via a virtualization or containment system). The tests are expected to be supplied in the corresponding Debian source package. See autopkgtest(1) and /usr/share/doc/autopkgtest. Depending on which virtualization server you want to use, you need to install additional packages (schroot, lxc, lxd, or qemu-system) The migration software used by the Release Team (called britney) uses the results from autopkgtest of a package and it's reverse dependencies to determine if a package is ready to migrate to testing. A regression in any of these scheduled tests will block migration. Debian CI ([ci.debian.net](https://ci.debian.net "ci.debian.net")) runs autopkgtest against the entire Debian archive, Adding autopkgtest tests to your package will automatically make those tests run on Debian CI as soon as the package hits the archive. Salsa CI ([salsa.debian.org](https://salsa.debian.org]) can be used to run tests the moment changes are pushed to packaging archives hosted on that server.

Let's gather the Debian Clojure community so we can find more maintainers, discuss Clojure policy, prioritize applications to be introduced into Debian, and talk about open ITPs for Clojure packages. ehashman will provide an introduction to Clojure packaging structure and policy if requested.

Cyber Defense training depends on setting up a training environment isolated from the rest of the network. We need to avoid training attacks and exercises actually impacting real systems. In some cases it is also important to make sure that real attackers do not learn techniques and procedures used to defend cyber assets. To facilitate this we've been virtualizing and simulating ever more resources from the Internet to build more realistic training exercises. In this environment, Debian fits into an ecosystem alongside containers (such as Docker images), language specific repositories, distributions, and third-party repositories. When we add proprietary software, Open Virtual Appliances and other channels join the mix. We use all of these; in the process we've learned about the strengths and weaknesses of various software distribution channels and how they relate to Debian. We will present our thoughts about how Debian fits into this larger community. By understanding these trade offs, we can better explain to our users how Debian fits into this diverse ecosystem and continue to develop Debian to provide solutions where it is the best alternative.

Project Caua is a project to allow qualified students to earn money to help them go to university. Starting with seniors in high school Project Caua teaches them how to create their own business supplying support to customers on a part-time basis. While students are interested in the service business, they would also like to have "products" that they could sell to their customers, then offer services on them. We have identified several "solutions" that can be created with an inexpensive Single Board Computer like the Raspberry Pi or Caninos Loucos Labrador plus some common hardware. Already identified are multi-media home entertainment center plus first connection to the Internet using Kodi. Another product would be a Point-of-Sale and ERP system using ODOO. Creating an easy to administer server using Freedombox. There are more than 400,000 software products on the Internet, so we are looking both for more ideas for products plus people that might help to make these things closer to distribution.

Open source licenses do a fantastic job of giving users guidance for how to use and distribute their project. Where open source and FOSS licenses are _less_ clear, or explicitly say they do not cover, are the project's trademarks. A group of open source contributors and computer science academics have started having a discussion about how we can apply the Debian Free Software Guidelines and the Open Source Definition to project trademarks. As the Debian community is no stranger to the complexities and consequences of project trademarks (looking at a particularly frozen mammal in the family Mustelidae), we want to use this BoF to hear about trademark corner cases end users and maintainers have encountered, trademark management successes and failures, and how applying the DFSG to project trademarks should look.

Starting with the official Covid-19 hackathon the Debian Med project received a lot of new contributions. We have new contributors, increased effort of bug fixing and autopkgtest writing, increased support by other teams in Debian like ftpmaster, new communication channels (weekly video conference) and a broader attention in the world of bioinformatics. All in all the Covid-19 "crisis" gave the Debian Med project a huge push forward. As reported on MiniDebConf Online the energy that was put into the Debian Med project by several new and old contributors was reduced a bit after the sprint but the activity inside the Debian Med project is way higher than before the Covid-19 outbreak. This talk will contain more detailed numbers about this activity and the effect Covid-19 had on the Debian Med team.

Bárbara Fernandes and Andreas Tille met each other on DebConf19 in Curitiba. Bárbara was new to DebConf while Andreas joined many DebConfs starting with DebConf 0. In this dialog we want to discuss about motivations, expectations and outcomes from different perspectives specifically enlightening technical as well as possibly even more importantly social aspects of DebConf. The dialog might be interesting for other DebConf newcomers as well as DebConf organisation to possibly make DebConf even more attractive for newcomers and potential contributors.

When packaging bigger projects, Debian's copyright files can get really messy, especially when licenses with long texts are being used, for example the Creative Commons licenses. While the debian/copyright file is technically human- and machine-readable, in practice this is not always the case. Using SPDX license identifiers, copyright attribution can be compressed, while being as precise as before, but easier readable for both humans and machines. In this talk I will give a short introduction into using SPDX and want to start a discussion about a possible copyright format 2.0 using SPDX license identifiers.

What does the Technical Committee do? How can it work better for Debian? This year, we will do a short recap of our activities last year, but the main focus we want to give to this BoF is how to best move forward and reshape the Technical Committee in a way that works better, and thus is more useful for Debian.

In this talk I would like to tell about my experience participating on a free and open source local community. During my studies on my University I could detect a low incentive to use and contribute to FOSS from teachers. And this situation is continuing until today. In this context, in 2019, I decided to create a open source community on my city to try to incentivate the use and contribute to free and open source projects to IT students. We met once a month, we create groups on social media and we are searching projects to start contribute like a community. Sadly, we never agree with which projects work and the interest declined in some members of this group. So, in my humble opinion the results obteined could be releated to a social issue due to education on my city. My audience could be all the people that are interest on the social problematic of the use of Open source. This is not a technical talk, this could be a debate of this problematic and a brainstorm.

This presentation will be talk about the Debian Expert Install mode. It will be share how use Debian Expert Install mode to custom your Debian, mainly if you don't the Debian's Desktop by default, another shell and etc. The Debian Expert Install mode is a great idea if you thinking in customize your Debian, installing only what you need.

We already have a number of large and very successful Debian Local Groups (Debian France, Debian Brazil and Debian Taiwan, just to name a few), but what can we do to help support upcoming local groups or help spark interest in more parts of the world? Local groups are incredibly important to the success of Debian since they often help with translations, making us more diverse, support, setting up local bug squashing sprints, establishing a local DebConf team along with miniDebConfs, getting sponsors for the project and much more. Yet, as important as they are, we do very little to take care of them and give them every possible tool to help them flourish. In this BoF, we'll discuss the possibility of setting up a local group support team. It could do some of the following and more: - Help new local teams get bootstrapped - Provide ongoing support for a local team when they need help with something - Help administer/approve budgets for local teams (ie. for sprints, get togethers, etc) - Create and distribute Debian merchandise for local team use (t-shirts, pens, pamphlets, posters, etc, perhaps even maintain a conference kit for people to use at conferences all over the world). - Your idea here :) Ideally a team like this would be made up of long-term Debian members and also people who are from existing local teams, but anyone else is also welcome.

We have rights with respect to our technology. These rights are imperative to ensuring our digital autonomy: our right to be in control of our own destinies. As the border between the physical and the digital breaks down, it is increasingly becoming necessary to re-examine what we consider to be the rights that protect our digital autonomy, and the way those abstract ideas apply to existing (and theoretical) technology. We will first discuss the principles of digital autonomy, clarifying what your rights are and the principles that define them. They will then analyze popular technologies, namely Debian!

The world is being wracked by stresses we could not even _imagine_ a year ago. Global pandemic, massive economic downturns, social unrest, political unrest, yet _Debian goes on_. This could be the time for Free Software and its communities to come into the limelight, with _employee-owned_, _socially-conscious_ companies practicing _sustainable business models._ Debian, a world-wide organization, could be the key to this happening. The audience for this would be Debian community members, Business, Government, Non-profits, or unemployed, who may get inspiration for starting their own organizations, or helping others to start them.

By now, we should have conquered the hearts, minds, and bandwidths of Debian contributors all over the world. Traditionally, this is the right spot to present some statistics, give us all a final group hug. See you next year!
